In the northeastern part of Qin'an County, Tianshui City, Gansu Province, there flows a Qingshui River originating from Longshan Mountain and running from west to east, joining the Hulu River in Lianhua Town, and eventually flowing into the Wei River in Sanyangchuan, Tianshui.
The river valley is flat and open, with an altitude of 1500m-1600m, with the benefits of mountains, forests, rivers and fish, the natural ecological conditions are superior, therefore, in this piece of hot land has nurtured 8000 years of Dadiwan culture.
In 2021, the Qingshui River in Zhangjiachuan Gedachuan site found more than 6,000 years ago, a large Yangshao culture early settlement. In recent years, has been found in Lianhua Township, Dongjiaya, Yutouju Yangshao culture remains, has been the provincial and county levels of cultural relics department attention. Ancient history and legends of humanities founder Fuxi and Nvwa's birthplace in Tianshui, Qin'an area.
The region has a rich history, and during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods, it was an area where the Rong people reigned supreme and the Qin and Rong cultures met and fused, and the archaeological results of the Majia Plateau in Zhangjiachuan and the Wangwa Cemetery in Qin'an have provided conclusive evidence of this.
Starting from Longxian County in Shaanxi, crossing the Long Mountains, traveling through Zhangjiachuan, and marching along the Qingshui River Valley to Qin'an, this is a very important transportation route connecting Gansu and Shaanxi, which was first opened by prehistoric cultural exchanges 7,000 to 8,000 years ago, and also served as a cultural corridor in the prehistoric period.
Regarding the origin of Chinese characters, there have been many achievements in the past hundred years, among which two basic perceptions can be drawn:
First, the origin of Chinese characters is extremely long. The “wu” characters at the Pengtoushan site, the engraved symbols at the Jiahu site, and the “wen” characters at the Liulinxi site indicate that the origin of Chinese characters is not less than 8,000 years old, only that the initial stage was relatively simple and the amount of characters was very small, and that they became gradually systematized around 5,000 years ago. It was only around 5000 years ago that Chinese characters were gradually systematized, as evidenced by the scattered characters found in archaeological sites around the world.
Secondly, China's territory is huge, far beyond other ancient civilizations, and there were six major cultural systems in the ancient times. Theoretically, each cultural system could have developed its own writing. And the Warring States Xunzi said “good book of many carry on, and the Cangjie unique transmission of one also”, that is, the ancient writing system, only the Cangjie made Chinese characters have been handed down to date, so there should be other ancient writing system.
Archaeologists found 16 unknown ancient scripts in the ancient site of Dadiwan in Gansu, and this discovery not only shocked the archaeological community, but also provided a new perspective for the study of ancient Chinese history. The relationship of these new scripts to the cultures of the Xia, Shang, and Zhou periods has sparked widespread discussion and provides us with more evidence to understand the diversity of ancient civilizations.
The discovery of the new Gansu scripts provides us with a new perspective on the culture of the Xia, Shang, and Zhou periods. By further interpreting these writings, scholars are expected to reveal more connections between ancient civilizations.
